Notes
Depending on the ingredients you have available, you can make a few simple substitutions in these Granola Bliss Balls.
Use raisins instead of sultanas. Raisins can be substituted for the sultanas in equal quantities.
Use chia seeds instead of flax seeds. Chia seeds can be substituted for flax seeds in equal quantities.
Tips for Success:
Make sure the mixture holds together. After blending, the mixture should be sticky enough to press and roll into balls. If it is too crumbly, blend for a little longer or add a small amount of extra almond butter.
Don't over-process the mixture. Blend until the ingredients form a fine crumb and hold together, but don't process until completely smooth. Some texture from the oats and nuts is ideal.
Add the chocolate chips at the end. Pulse them briefly after the main mixture has come together so they remain partially intact throughout the bliss balls.
Chill the bliss balls before serving. Refrigerating them for at least 30 minutes helps them firm up and makes them easier to handle.
Freeze for longer storage. The bliss balls can be frozen for up to 3 months. Thaw at room temperature for about 30 minutes or in the refrigerator overnight.
