Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups (220g) dark chocolate/semi-sweet chocolate chips or block
  • 1 Tbsp smooth or crunchy peanut butter, optional
  • 2 cups raw whole walnuts

Instructions

  • Prepare the Tray: Line a flat baking tray with parchment paper and set aside.
  • Melt the Chocolate: Prepare a double boiler by placing a heat-proof mixing bowl over simmering water. Add the chocolate to the bowl and gently melt, stirring occasionally.
  • Add Peanut Butter: Once the chocolate is fully melted, turn off the heat. Stir through the peanut butter, if using, until smooth.
  • Coat the Walnuts: Add the walnuts to the chocolate mixture and stir well to coat.
  • Form Clusters: Using a teaspoon or fork, spoon out small bundles of walnuts, allowing any excess chocolate to drip back into the bowl. Place each cluster onto the lined tray, ensuring they stay together.
  • Use Leftover Chocolate: If there is still leftover chocolate and no walnuts left, add extra walnuts to use up the chocolate and create even more clusters!
  • Chill the Clusters: Transfer the tray with the clusters to the refrigerator for 1-2 hours, or until they’re set. Enjoy!

Notes

Use chocolate chips or a block of chocolate. When the chips melt, the consistency is thicker compared to that of a melted block of chocolate, however, both the chips and block work well for these nut clusters.
Substitute the walnuts for peanuts, almonds, pecans, cashews, or pistachios. Or a mixture of nuts.
Use either smooth or crunchy peanut butter. The peanut butter is optional but it does add a delicious flavor paired with the dark chocolate.
Store chocolate nut clusters in an airtight container, refrigerated, for 1 week - 10 days.
Freeze chocolate nut clusters in a freezer-friendly container or freezer zip-lock bags and freeze for 2-3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator.
