Do you love chocolate as much as i do? One of my favourite flavours is top deck, ahh so good! So there is a story behind this decadent gluten free slice. My mum was actually going to make my Lemon & White Chocolate Slice but we only had about 50g of white chocolate left and the recipe calls for 100g. So she made the remaining quantity up with dark chocolate. We also didn’t have a large lemon, only a tiny one. I tried the slice a few hours later and it tasted quite different from my lemon one that i just had to put her recipe up.
I named it Top Deck Slice as the frosting uses both white and dark chocolate, just like the top deck chocolate you buy. The lemon adds some flavour but not enough that you cannot tell the difference between the two recipes. If you remember my recipe for my Tasty Tarts from a few posts back where i discovered condensed coconut milk (yes it is a real thing!) you may want to use that in place of the condensed milk. I haven’t tried it myself yet as i didn’t have any on hand when i re-created this slice.
I have just recently published an article on how to start your own food blog, or any blog in general, check it out here. One of my newest obsessions is Yummly, a recipe sharing site, where you have your very own recipe box which can be filled with your very own creations or your favourite recipes you find while browsing those delicious food blogs. Yummly is another fantastic tool to add to your resources for building your own blog.
You can easily find my Yummly share button at the bottom of each of my recipe posts, this way you can add them to your own personalised Yummly recipe box for later. You can organise your recipes into different categories so they are always easily accessible. Also, if you come across a recipe that is not already on Yummly, simply install the “Yum” bookmarklet, and it will instantly be added to your recipe box. Discover Wholesome Patisserie on Yummly!
I love a good, reliable slice recipe that i can count on when i need a sweet treat in a hurry and this slice is one of those. Both tasty, gluten free and simple to create again and again. I hope you enjoy this recipe, it’s one of my classics!
